The can I  used for this project was an empty hot chocolate can 1 lb  size.  I removed the paper and cleaned the can.  I measured around the can and the height of the can, which was 4.45 X 12.5 inches

Then I wrapped the red tape around the top and the bottom of the can.  With two pieces running from top to bottom.

I took a sheet of 12 X 12 paper and cut it to 4.45 inches  and did a second cut   that 4.45  by 4 inches.  Then I carefully stuck the paper to the can.. .do this slowly so you will not go crooked or have lumps.

The can was a little bigger then the 12 inch paper so I had to put in a panel on the backside

Then I wrapped a Christmas ribbon around the can.

Next, I stamped my image and colored with Copic markers.

This image was cut out using a Spellbinders die and then taped to the side of the can, with  a little glue added to stick the ends down.

Now on to the lid... the lid was gold and that just would not do. I used my Spellbinders dies for circles,  picking the one that best suited the size of the lid.  I cut out 2 circles then did a frame.

This was layered on to a red circle.  To make the frame you use two spellbinders dies and cut them out at the same time.

This is  the result.

I glued the frame on the outer ring of the lid.  Then I added the red circle and then the white stamped circle.

This was all stuck to the lid using my favorite glue which is Art Glitter dries clear.

Next I added ribbon around the outer ring of the lid again using glue.

Then I added stickers to decorate.

Here are some additional views of the finished can.

The great thing about this project is you can use most any size can and decorate it.  You could take a can of nuts or candy and make is something a little more special.. but they might not want to open it.

Thanks! I hope I have inspired you to try this.
