July Map Master Project
When I looked at this month's sketch, I couldn't come up with much. Then I turned it sideways and for some reason it reminded me of a treasure chest. So let's map out the chest and unlock the treasure inside.
Treasure Chest
Finished size: (A8) 5.25" x 7.875"
Supplies:
Stamps:
Large wood grain background (River City Rubber Works)
Paper:
Lavender pattern paper (Paper Pizazz)
Black cardstock (CS)
White cardstock (CS)
Brown cardstock (CS)
Silver cardstock (CS)
Ink:
Distress ink (Ranger)
Sepia dye ink (Memories)
Brown dye ink (Marvy Matchables)
Silver pigment ink (Color It)
Other:
Key, key hole and hinges grunge board (Tim Holtz)
Silver embossing powder (EP) (Stampendous)
3-M foam tape
Black marker (Sharpie)
Adhesive of choice
Sandpaper
Metal dots (Colorbök)
DIRECTIONS:
- Stamp wood grain background on white CS. Then distress with inks and sandpaper.
- From Tim Holtz's Idea-ology grungeboard, pick out the key, key lock and hinges.
- Stamp grungeboard with silver pigment ink, sprinkle with sterling silver EP and heat emboss.
- Cut half inch strips of silver CS and cut the four corner squares. Glue a small piece of black CS behind the keyhole. Assemble as shown and use a black sharpie to make the nails or bolts.
- Size and cut the background with the lavender paper. Computer print the "Secret of life" saying and assemble all parts.
- If you want to get a little more fancy, use brown CS for the box and metal dots for the bolts.
- And finally, open the card (treasure chest) to find the secret of life.
