Here is the card I am working on today. It is called an Easel Card. I have used a Spellbinder die to form the shape of the card: in this case a Spellbinder "Label Eight" die.
And here is a close up of the image, very cute.
Finished card size: 4.25"X5.50"
Supplies:
Stamps:
Image Stamp (Stampavie)
Sentiment Stamp (Penny Black)
Paper:
Cardstock (The Angel Company)
Sugar Rush patterned paper pad (Basic Grey)()
Ink:
Tuxedo Black Memento dye ink pad (Tsukineko)
Copic Markers (.Too)
Label Eight die (Spellbinder)
Wizard Die Cutting Machine (Spellbinder)
Ticket Punch(EK Success )
Lavender Stickles (Ranger)
Small Flowers (Unknown)
Directions:
-
To start the card, I cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4.25" x 11". I then fold the piece in half. The piece of folded cardstock was laid on the Spellbinder die, as shown below. The top part of the folded cardstock was laid on the die and run through the Wizard.
-
As you can see the top of the folded cardstock was not cut by the die. I folded the top half down to the center fold of the card. This formed the hinge for the card.
-
I then cut another piece of dark blue cardstock with the same size "Label Eight" die that I formed the card body with and ran it through the Wizard, using an embossing floder to give it some texture. One more piece was cut with the "Label Eight" die, but the next size down. This is the background mat. And the last piece cut with the die, was a strip of poka dot paper from the same paper pack. It was cut so that the center points of the die were on the center of the strip.
-
After punching the image placard wit the "Ticket Punch" and the image mat, the image was mounted to the mat with 3M Adhesive. The rest of the elements were mounted to the card front then the image mat was mounted using Pop-Dots. The only thing left to do to the front of the was to add the flowers and apply the Stickles.
-
The Card front was glued to the folded flap of the card body. Make sure that you align the bottom edges of the card front and the flap. The inside of the card are a mirror of the card front, except that a saying was added in this case "Happy Birthday" and popped up to form a stop for the card front. You can see this in the first photo.
-
You can do this card in any shape Spellbinder die shape that you have. Just watch that you get a hinge.
-
Have fun and experiment.

Wonderful Bob. I just love to make easel cards...and yours is top notch. Clever using the Nestabilities. I will have to try that some day too.
Beautifully done, Bob! Your coloring is really good and I love the paper choices you used. Everything goes together so well. What an eye you have!
Such a cute card for a little boy. Love the shape instead of a straight card. Edna
what a great idea! i love how you used the spellbinders to cut the card shape different for this technique instead of the typical four corners. Very cute image!
