Recycled Mardi Gras Card

by: Chris Herrmann, Artistic Guide

Finished card size: 4.5" x 5.5"

All of the items I used are either from previous projects or just plain scraps. The square with the center  cut out was from a previous project I did using foil tape run through a Cuttlebug machine. I had tried using the Memories embellishment in another project with UTEE but that didn't turn out the way I wanted so I just threw it into a "scrap" container. I like to go through that container once in a while to see what I have collected and what masterpiece I can create. The following are the directions for my latest found art/recycling masterpiece. (photo o1)

Supplies:
Stamps:
Inchie Mardi Gras Couple(Another Stamp Company)
Paper:
Plum card 4.5" x 5.5"
Olive card stock 3.75" ( unknown)
Golden Yellow card stock 3.25" (unknown)
Circle of White card stock ( cut from circle punch)
Ink:
Jet Black Archival Pad (Ranger)
Bundled Sage Distress Pad (Ranger)
Assorted Alcohol Inks (Ranger)
Other:
Craft Sheet (Ranger)
Heat Tool (Ranger)
Piece of Ball Chain
Poker Chip
Circle Punch ( All Night Media)
Scrap backing from previous foil tape project, center circle cut out
Metal Memories Embellishment
Piece of Scrap Ribbon (unknown)
Envelope from junk mail
Art Glitter Glue (Art Institute Glitter)
Super Glue

Directions:

  1. Using a craft sheet and various Alcohol Inks, I created my Mardi Gras beads from an old piece of ball chain.
  2. Next I cut the corners off an envelope that came with junk mail and colored them with Ranger's new Bundled Sage Distress Ink.  I used that same ink to color the square scrap backing from foil tape.
  3. I had a scrap circle of white card stock on which I stamped the Mardi Gras Couple with the black ink.
  4. The Memories embellishment was a bit of a challenge. I had to get all the UTEE off before I could reuse it. I placed the embellishment on my craft sheet, used my heat tool on it and viola, it was ready to be reused.
  5. Next I started assembling my pieces. I used the Art Glitter Glue to attach the envelope corners on to the golden yellow card stock. Then glued the golden yellow card stock and the green card stock to my plum card.
  6. I  adhered the circle with the Mardi Gras couple to the poker chip and attached that to the golden yellow card stock.
  7. Next I attached  the green scrap square with super glue .
  8. A little dab here and there of the Glitter Glue held my beads in place.
  9. Last, I ran the ribbon through the slots on the memories embellishment and attached that to the golden yellow card stock. I signed my finished work of art and Ta Da!!!!! It was done.  Can't you just hear  the crowds cheering for beads and the Jazz music playing in the background?

  1. I like those beads too - I can see them on a little girls birthday card too.

  2. Love the idea of 'ball chain' as Mardi Gras beads.

In fact I got idea's from all seven of these great projects.
