Special folds – Purse card

By; Melanie Smith, Artistic Guide

Sometimes it's nice to have things a bit girly -- and what's more girly than handbags and shopping?  This wee handbag purse contains a shopping gift card inside.

Supplies:
Stamps:
Small rose (Rubbadubbadoo)
Papers:
Purple Bazzil - 8.5" x 11"
White cardstock -8.5" x 11"
Pink cardstock - 8.5" x 11"
Inks:
Fired Brick, Dusty Concord, Lipstick Distress ink pads (Ranger)
Other:
Score-pal and Scor-mat
Cutting knife
Steel Edged ruler
Paper trimmer (optional)
Edge punch (Emaginations)
'Slit' punch (Stampin'Up!)
Cut'n'dry foam (Ranger)
Pencil and eraser
Double-sided tape
Glue stick
Co-ordinating Ribbon (with optional beads)

Directions:

  1. Cut cardstock down to 5.5" x 11".
  2. Mark each end at 2.75" with pencil as shown.
  3. Score card at 2.5" (across short side) and burnish with the ‘bump’ to the inside.
  4. Edge punch this end.  Make the first punch in the centre of the card.  Make the following  punches with the punch upside down so that you can see the pattern alligning.  My punch had a 3 pattern repeat so I aligned the last pattern of the previously punched pattern with the first pattern repeat on the punch.
  5. Punch with 'slit punch' on each end using pencil marks to centre.
  6. two

  7. Hook the two slit punches together (with pencil marks to the outside) and fold the card in half as shown – keeping the two slits tight . Burnish.
  8. three

  9. Place this new fold into Scor-pal at the 4.25" groove (blank side facing up) and score on the 3.5" and 5" marks. Fold and burnish – bump to inside.
  10. Fold together as shown.
  11. four

  12. Mark in 0.75" from each edge along the top fold.  Fold card and flatten so that all the layers are over each other.
  13. five

  14. Line your cutting ruler on an angle from the mark to the bottom corner and cut through all layers.  I like to use a very sharp cutting knife and do many soft cuts rather than one hard one.

  16. Use the newly shaped flaps as a template for the designer paper for the two fronts of the card.
  17. ten

  18. Cut both pieces out and decorate.
  19. eleven

  20. Randomly stamp the 'small rose' with the Distress inks.

  22. Use the 'cut'n'dry' foam to sponge some colour on over the  roses.

  24. Trim the newly patterned paper to fit the front flaps of the card.
  25. dp22

  26. When trimmed sponge some of the Dusty Concord around the edges.
  27. dp24

  28. Add a swirl of glue around the slit on the bottom flap of the card.  Attach the bottom decorated paper with double sided tape.
  29. When attached re-cut the slit punch (on the bottom piece only).
  30. Attach the top piece of decorated paper only on the top edge.
  31. finished under flap

  32. Punch two holes on the top edge and thread the ribbon through and knot the ends.
  33. Trim some cardstock for the inside and decorate as you like.  I used the pink cardstock and stamped with pink roses and sponging around the edges.  Before attaching the centre panel cardstock, I cut a slit so that I could slip in the gift debit card.
  34. finished inner
