Basically, Thank You. *Back2Basics*
Fly-By Thanks
by Stephanie Loomis, Artistic Guide and Editor
Finished card size: 5.5" x 4.25"
As promised, Stamper's Quest will bring periodic "Back2Basics" projects to our readers so that we may all remember why we chose this art form! This particular card takes us to the very element of rubber stamp art. It requires four things: stamps, paper, ink, and a scrap of ribbon. It takes less than 5 minutes to make, and yet displays a simple elegance that any recipient will appreciate.
Stamps:
"Thank You" (The Angel Company)
Birds (The Paper Company Studio)
Ink:
Versafine: Onyx Black (Tsukineko)
Brilliance: Ice Blue (Tsukineko)
Paper:
Holiday Cheer: Gumdrops, Swirly Whirly, Frost (BoBunny)
A2 notecard (5.5" x 4.25")
Other:
Ribbon scrap
Cutting tool (I use a guillotine cutter by Purple Cow)
Adhesive (I use a Scotch ATG 700 tape gun with .25" tape)
Directions:
One of the things that make this card successful is the use of a paper collection by Bobunny. Many companies offer collections that can be mixed and matched. This particular collection is double-sided paper: one side has a winter holiday theme, while the other is dots and swirls. I chose the dots and swirls for this post-holiday card.
- Cut the pink paper to 4.5" x 3".
- Stamp the birds onto the pink paper with black ink.
- Stamp the sentiment with black ink.
- Edge the stamped paper by dragging the Ice Blue ink pad around the perimeter.
- Cut the beige paper to 5" x 3.5".
- Attach pink paper to center of the beige paper.
- Cut turquoise paper to 5.5" x 4.25".
- Attach turquoise paper to note card.
- Attach ribbon vertically about 2" from the left side onto the turquoise paper.
- Attach beige and pink assemblage on top.
- Sign your art!
