Back to Basics
Y2K plus 10. Remember the madness that accompanied the dawn of the 21st century? People stocked up on bottled water and canned foods, gathered family close around, and waited for…nothing. All the talk of a cyber-meltdown and disaster proved to be all hot air speculation. However, in the ten years since, the mood and the priorities of the world has changed dramatically. Terrorism, droughts, floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, financial disasters, recession, and underemployment make it more important than ever for people to focus on the things that really matter: the basics of life.
January marks the beginning of a new year and a chance to start fresh reorganizing the priority list. We here at Stamper’s Quest know that family and friends need to be at the top of that list, because those are the two things that give life meaning. Sometimes we all just need to get back to basics.
With that in mind, Stamper’s Quest will also go “Back to Basics” in 2010. From time to time we will feature projects that incorporate those techniques that made us love stamping. Simple things—like coloring and heat embossing and using glitter. We plan to have a series about using the color wheel. Of course, SQ’s exclusive sketches will be a monthly feature, and we will continue to make card-making the center of each edition. New projects and new designers will bring fresh ideas to us all. As the year unfolds, join in as we re-visit and re-learn the fundamentals of our art!
