Holiday Splendor: Wrinkle-free Distress Santa Christmas Card
By: Melanie Smith, Artistic Guide
Finished size: 4.125" x 5.8"
This is a super easy way to make some nice bright cards this year. All of the colour is added to the card before stamping so you could make loads of the backgrounds in one session and then make up into cards later.
Supplies:
Stamps:
Classic Santa (Rubbadubbadoo)
Papers
Dark green card - 8.25" x 5.375"
Bright green text weight paper or card 5.375" x 3.75"
Cream card - 4.125" x 5.375" (4 1/8 x 5 3/8)
Inks
Black Archival (Ranger)
Bottle Green - Impress (Tsukineko)
Other:
Craft sheeet or plastic report cover
Water spritzing bottle
tape or glue
Paper trimmer
Directions:
- Swipe the green inkpad over the plastic or craft sheet. (I like to use a twisting action).
- Spritz the ink with water and then, holding the cream card from the top edge, drag through the water/ink mix. Turn the card and drag through again. Try to cover most (but not all) of the card. Set aside to dry.
- Stamp the "Classic Santa" onto the card.
- Trim so that the Santa is in the centre of the card - to approximately 3" x 5".
- Score the forest green card and fold in half then attach all the layers with tape or glue.
Some Easy Variations:
- use two different colours of ink pads and let the colours mix slightly (don't use complimentary colours - they will mix to a mud colour)
- use white coloured pencil to add highlights to the Santa beard and hair
- add glitter glue around the circular frame
- cut some acetate the same size as the green layers and attach with a brad in each corner (do this before taping all the layers together)
- Add some Perfect Pearls or Pearl-Ex to your water spritzer bottle; or spray with some Glimmer Mist after the front layer is stamped and trimmed.
