Sue’s Advent Series – Week Three featuring Owl Christmas by Hero Arts
Week Three-Yikes!! It's beginning to look like Christmas around here! I am frantically putting my holiday cards together. I look around my studio and there are cards waiting for glitter glue to dry, ribbons strewn all over, card scraps littering my desk, and amidst it all sleeping serenely is my Pinkie cat. If you haven't started your cards, this week's series featuring the sweet and whimsical Christmas Owls by Hero Arts is sure to inspire you.
Finished size 4.25" x 5.5"
Supplies:
Stamps:
Owl Christmas -CL238 (Hero Arts)
Papers:
Matte white card stock
Pale blue card stock (Die Cuts With A View)
Decorative paper (Basic Grey)
Inks:
Mementos Bahama Blue (Tsukineko)
Mementos Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Other:
Snow flake gems (Memory Box)
Glue stick
Swiss Dots Embossing folder (Provocraft)
Snow flake punches (unknown)
Apron Border Punch (Fiskars)
Colored Pencils (Prismacolor)
Foam tape
Directions:

Emboss pale blue card stock with swiss dots using a die cutting machine of your choice.

Punch out 5 snow flakes. Remember when adding elements, odd numbers are always more visually appealing.

Punch a white strip with the apron punch.

Stamp the baby owl once with the Bahama Blue ink and once in Black.

Color the black owl in with the colored pencils and cut out.

Cut out the scarf on the blue owl and paper piece the scarf.

Stamp saying on the decorative strip.

Layer pieces on to your base card using foam tape to pop the owl.

Add snowflake gems.

Inside the card stamp the rest of the saying and stamp snowflakes randomly with the Bahama Blue ink.

sue - love your ideas!! I liked how you used an owl for a Christmas card!!! they are so cute!! I liked using owls this year.... maybe because they are just a little different...
and liked the idea, how you added the snowflakes among the inside greeting floating all around, made it seems all the more seasonal!!!
