Sorry I haven't answered sooner, i was getting ready for a trip.
The embossed part faces out and is the front. The second colored piece of glass serves two purposes. One to make a snug fit in the frame. With out it, it would be too loose. I colored the second piece of glass so give it more depth and more color. Hope that answers all your questions.
why not just use one piece of glass?
The embossing is on the front of the glass and the ink is on the back
I don't quite understand then does the embossed part face out that is the front? and then the second piece of glass the part you colored will be facing out it is the back?
