Old Truck Photo Card #2
By: Shelly Newkirk, Artistic Guide
Finished card size: 4.24 x 5.5
Supplies:
Stamps:
Flourish (unknown)
Crackle background (unknown, possibly TAC)
Paper:
White card stock (Georgia Pacific)
card base and seperate piece for background stamping
Black text weight paper (unknown)
Ink:
Jet Black Archival ink pad (Ranger)
Soot Black Distressed ink pad (Ranger)
Other:
Sponge
Heat gun or craft iron
Water mister
Glue (Crafter's Pick Ultimate Glue)
Thread cutter or any tool to distress paper edges
Black and white photo (this example is a picture taken by me)
Layering rulers (Color Workshop Perfect Layers)
Directions:
-
Alter your color photo to a black and white photo in Paint Shop Pro (or digital photo program of choice). Sponge the edges of photo with black dye ink.
-
Glue photo to black text weight paper and cut a narrow border using Perfect Layers rulers.
-
Using Soot Black Distressed ink, stamp the crackle background image on the separate piece of white card stock. Mist heavily, halting the spread of the distressed ink with heat gun when you see the "look" that you desire. Heat until dry. You can also use a craft iron.
-
Attach photo layer to distressed crackle background and trim to moderate border using Perfect Layers rulers. Rough up the edges of the crackle layer with the thread cutter. (a paring or table knife will work too) Sponge black dye ink to the edges of the crackle layer.
-
Now working on the card base, sponge the edges with black dye ink.
-
Glue the 3-layer photo piece to the very upper left corner of the card.
-
Stamp a flourish image with black dye ink to the lower right corner of the card base. This image can stamp onto the layer portion as well.

First of all, what a wonderful photo! And secondly, you've used it in such a perfect way so that someone else can share it. Thanks for the inspiration.
