Black and White Flower Card for the Discoverer

By: Michael A. Trent, Artistic Guide

Finished card size:6.5” x 5”

Something else I enjoy doing when using black and white images, papers, etc.  is to add just a dash of color to a project that is 99% black and white.  In this project the emphasis is black and white but I added some color to the stem and leaves of the flower to give just a hint of color.

Cone Flower, 1136Q (The Artful Stamper)
Think Happy Thoughts (Stampin Up)

Boho Chic Paper Pad (The Paper Studio)
Black textured cardstock of choice
Versamark (Tsukineko)

Detail White Opaque Embossing Powder (Stampendous)
1.25” Circle Punch (Marvy)
Green marker of choice (I used Tombow No. 195)
Heat Gun

Black & White Ribbon of choice

Double-sided tape

Brad – color of your choice
Pop Dots

  1. Trim black textured cardstock to 6.5” x 5” and adhere to card front.
  2. Trim patterned paper to 6.25” x 4.75”.
  3. Stamp Cone Flower image on patterned paper with Versamark and emboss with white embossing powder.
  4. Color in stem and leaves with green marker.
  5. Stamp and emboss image again on another piece of black textured cardstock, cut out the flower cone part only, and adhere to patterned paper with pop dots.
  6. Stamp “friendship” image from Think Happy Thoughts set with Versamark and heat emboss with white embossing powder.
  7. Trim with 1.25” circle punch. Pop brad through enter of flower on circle punch, adhere to ribbon, wrap ribbon around patterned paper and adhere to front of black textured cardstock.
  8. Congrats – you’re done.  Sign the back and give the card to someone special.

Another option is to stamp the image right on the patterned paper and color in the images with markers.  The paper will show through but your image will have a bit of color also.
