HermaFix Tape Runner (EK Success)

Deckle edge scissors (Fiskars)
Cutterbee scissors (EK Success)
X-acto Knife (optional)
Paper Trimmer (Fiskars)

Optional: 8" x 10” frame (Michaels)

Directions:

  1. Cut an 8.5" x 4.5" piece from the matte coated white cardstock.  Stamp the Jillian and Monica images in coal black ink and dry with the heat gun.   Carefully cut out both images.  Add frosted lace glitter glue to the dots on Jillian’s scarf and skirt, cuffs, waistband and shoes.  Do the same with Monica’s hat, purse, belt and shoes.  Set aside to dry.  After the glitter glue has dried, edge both pieces with black marker.

  3. On the remaining piece of the white matte cardstock, repeatedly stamp four rows, side by side, with the leaf cube and the retro circles, making sure the first and fourth rows are the tiny leaves.  Photo 2a shows the left panel.  Set aside to dry (or dry with the heat gun). This will become the background panels inside the mat openings. Photo 2b is the finished right panel.  (The retro circles are over stamped for added depth.)

  5. Separate the two mats, setting aside the bottom mat.  On the top mat, stamp all the remaining images,  around the mat, with the black ink, being careful not to stamp on the beveled edge.  Add random groups of three black glitter glue dots all around as well.  Set aside to dry.

  7. Cut the background panel into two 4" x 6" pieces, with the ‘seam’ running vertically.  Looking at the finished piece, you will see there is a ‘left’ and a ‘right’ panel, with the tiny leaf pattern on the left and right sides.
  8. Reassemble the mats by running little ‘tabs’ of the tape runner around all four edges and down the center strip of the back of the top mat. After assembling the mats, attach the left panel to the back of the left mat opening with a thin line of the paper adhesive across the top of the opening only, approximately .25" from the edge.  Note: Do not put glue the whole way around the opening. Securing only at the top will allow for normal expansion/contraction of the piece over time.  Center the mat over the panel and press down on it for a few seconds to let the glue set.  Repeat with the right side opening.
  9. Cut two 2.25" x 3.5" pieces of the black glimmer paper.  Edge both pieces with black marker, then attach both to the center of the panels in the openings as shown.  Attach the stamped images to the center of the black glimmer panels with very small dots of the paper adhesive around the inside edges of the images.  Be careful not use too much glue so it doesn’t spread out from under the images, especially on the legs.
  10. Add some coordinating epoxy stickers randomly around the mat.   Attach the backing  (foam board or mat board) with adhesive around the back edges of the finished mat.
  11. Sign your masterpiece!  You can either frame it or display it on an easel for all your friends and family to admire!
