Midsummer's Eve is the celebration of the summer solstice and is the longest day of the year. It is a time when magic is most powerful and the barrier between this world and the fairy world grows thin. My projects celebrate Midsummer's Eve and the world of the Sidhe.


Serene Sun- F253 (Hero Arts)
Fairy Dust - B1170 (Close to my Heart)
White card stock, 5.5" x 8.5", folded in half to form 4.25" x 5.5"  base card
Orange card stock, 4.25" x 5.5"  (unknown)
Yellow card stock,  scrap piece (unknown)
Light yellow card stock,  scarp piece(unknown)
Cubana Beach towel decorative paper (Paper Salon) cut into a 5x .5" strip
India Ink Black (Stewert Superior)
Butterscotch Alcohol Ink (Ranger)
1" circle punch (EK Success)
.5" circle punch (Marvy)
Crystal gems (KaiserCraft)
Colored Pencils (Prismacolor)
     Muted Turquoise 1088
     Spring green 913
     White 938
     Spanish Orange 1003
     Crimson Red 924
Adhesive of your choice
Foam tape (3M Scotch)
Star dust pen (Sakura)

  1. Lay the crown template down on top of your base card with the points along the top fold. Trace and cut out. This will be the base of you card.
  2. Trace the crown on the orange paper and cut out.

  4. Stamp serene sun on scrap of light yellow paper in black ink. Color with your colored pencils and cut out.
  5. Punch out two- 1 inch circles using the scrap orange paper.
  6. Punch out two-.5 inch circles using the yellow paper.
  7. Stamp the fairies and the saying onto the orange crown, leaving room for your decorative strip on the bottom. Color the fairies with your colored pencils.

  9. Highlight the stars on the crown with the Stardust pen.
  10. Adhere the decorative strip to the bottom of the crown and trim edges.
  11. Adhere the orange crown to the base card.
  12. Adhere the yellow circle onto the orange circle and adhere to the crown points.
  13. Adhere the sun with foam tape to the center crown point.

  15. To change the color of your gems, take the Butterscotch alcohol ink and squeeze a drop onto the gem. Allow to dry. The alcohol inks will dry on the gems quickly. You can use this trick to make any color gems, but you must use an alcohol-based ink.

  17. Adhere the two larger gems in the circles on the points of the crown and the five smaller gems along the decorative strip at the bottom.

I am fairy certain this card will be the crowning achievement of your creativity.

  1. I hardly ever buy colored gems any more!! Just buy clear and color to match.
