iPod Case Picture Frame for the Inventor

Spring is Coming!
By: Marcia Mattos, Artistic Guide

Sometimes you look at an object before throwing it away, and think, "someday this will have another use". Well, when I looked at this iPod case I was sure someday I would use it for a picture frame.  I used a texture transfer technique. You can use this technique with any picture frame and turn it into a nice customized item. I think this is a great gift or your can use it to embelish your home for Spring.

Flower foam stamps (Making Memories)
Swirl stamps (AUD Design)
Bashful Blue (Stampin' Up!)
Certainly Celery (Stampin' Up!)
Purely Pomegranate (Stampin' Up!)
StazOn Timber Brown (Tsukineko)
Tea Dye Distress Ink (Ranger Industries)
White Cardstock (Bazzil)
Heating tool (Marvy)
Crystal Brads (Making Memories)
Pop Dots (Ranger)
Ipod Case (Apple)
Cross Stich Fabric
Alcohol Ink applicator (Ranger)
One paper towel

  1. Apply ink (Purely Pomegranate) to one of your stamps, stamp it over the jute piece and then onto the white cardstock. You will be transferring the texture of the jute or cross stich fabric.

  3. Do the same with the Bashful blue ink using another flower shape. Stamp some leaves with Certainly Celery.

  5. Now cut around the flowers leaving a little white border and add the brads or bling to their centers. Cut the leaves too.

  7. Cut a small piece of jute, add to the Alcohol Ink applicator and apply the Tea Dye Distress ink to the surface of the ipod case.

  9. Now do the same with the timber brown StazOn ink one portion at a time, and while the inks are still wet, take a paper towel and pull the ink down to your direction. Heat the surface to dry.

  11. Repeat the same process with all faces of the case. Heat all the surfaces. You will end up with your case like this.

  13. Now place your flowers on the case but do not adhere them, yet, so you can see where to stamp the swirls. Remove the flowers and stamp with the Timber Brown StazOn ink.

  15. Using Pop Dots on some flowers and just regular glue on others, finish your art frame.
  16. Sign your art and you have a beautiful gift!

  1. great.. I like the idea of stamping on texture befor you go to paper to get the textured look out of a smooth stamp. I'm glad you brought that up . good job and looks like fun too!! cyn
