By: Christine Candora-Hickey, Artistic Guide

Finished card size:  4.25" x 5.0"

Supplies:
Stamps:
I Will Bring You Flowers (Magenta)
Papers:
Black cardstock (Stampin' Up!)
Red fleck handmade paper (unknown)
Gold textured handmade paper (unknown)
Black text on white, white cursive on black background papers (7Gypsies)
Inks:
Brilliance - Graphite Black (Tsukineko)
Color Wash Fabric & Paper Dye - Walnut-Scarlet (7Gypsies)
Other:
Paper Flowers - one brick, one crème (Prima)
Brad - Antique Gold (Stampin' Up!)
Black satin ribbon (unknown)
Trio Adhesive (JudiKins)
Clear glue dot (Zots)
Heat Gun (Milwaukee)
Scissors (Tonic)

Directions:

  1. Begin by distressing the edge of the black text on white background paper with the Graphite Black Brilliance ink. Do this by rubbing the edge of the paper along with ink pad with a "flicking" motion.
  2. Using Trio adhesive (or the adhesive of your choice) adhere the distressed-edge background paper to the black cardstock.
  3. Shake the bottle of Color Wash to distribute any pigment that may have settled to the bottom.  Using the eye dropper top, drop random drops of the wash onto the card.  The higher you hold your hand above the paper, the more "splatter" you will get; the closer your hand is, the more circular your drops will be.  This is your choice - I held my hand close to the paper.  Set aside to dry.
  4. Ink the "I Will Bring You Flowers" stamp with the Graphite Black Brilliance ink and stamp onto the red handmade paper.  Trim closely with scissors (you may even wish to tear the paper in order to trim the image for a distressed look).  Set aside.
  5. If the Color Wash background has not sufficiently dried, use a heat gun to finish the drying process.  When dried, adhere a thin strip of white cursive on black background paper across the middle of the card using adhesive.
  6. Take a strip of gold handmade paper and tear both the bottom and top edges for a distressed look.  Tear so that your strip is thinner than the background paper and adhere it over the background paper to add a layer of interest to the middle.
  7. Adhere your stamped image onto the left hand side of your card.
  8. Re-ink portions of the "I Will Bring You Flowers stamp" with the Graphite Back Brilliance ink.
  9. Press the crème colored paper flower over the inked portions (I inked the text portions of the stamp and repeatedly pressed the flower over those portions).
  10. Layer the crème paper flower over the brick paper flower and secure with a brad.  Adhere over the middle strip to the right hand side of the card using a glue dot.
  11. Take two small pieces of black satin ribbon and angle the edges with scissors.  Put a small amount of adhesive on the tips of each piece of ribbon and wedge underneath the petals of the flower to make "tails".
  12. Don't forget to sign your work!
