Sizzix watercolors paper (Provo Craft)
Blue-Green patterned paper 4" x 6"
Other:
Blue painter's tape (home improvement store)
Heat embossing tool (Marvy)
Adhesive of choice (I use my ATG 750 by Scotch)
3" x 3" Post-It notes (3M)
Gelly Roll pens: Pink, Light Blue, Dark Blue, Yellow, Green (Sakura)
Hydra Sponge cut into about 2" bits (Hydra Sponge Company)

Directions:

  1. Stamp Gift of Music onto left side of glossy paper using black ink. Heat set.
  2. Color clef signs and notes with Gelly Roll pens. Heat set.
  3. Cover image with a Post-It note. (This is your first mask.)
  4. Tear the blue painter's tape into jagged strips of varying lengths. I then stick them to my arm to diminish efficacy (stickiness) of the adhesive. Even though it is a "non-stick" product, it is designed for walls, not paper.
  5. Apply your torn strips to the glossy cardstock radiating from the Post-It note mask. (These are your secondary masks.)
  6. Sponge color onto the glossy cardstock radiating from the Post-It note in this order: Night Sky, Aegean Blue, Turquoise Gem, Pixie Dust, Thatched Straw. Blend softly with a clean bit of sponge. Heat set.
  7. Repeat tape mask and sponge color directly on the 5" x 7" note card face. Leave the center empty; this will be covered by the patterned paper.
  8. Stamp music staff lines over colors on the note card with black ink.
  9. Pull tape from glossy card stock revealing your shattered glass. Repeat with note card. Remove Post-It note.
  10. Tear edges of blue-green patterned paper and attach to note card. Tear toward you to reveal white edges; tear away from you for a colored edge.
  11. Layer glossy card stock onto colored paper. Attach assemblage onto note card.
  12. Sign your art!
