Holiday Blizzard Project- Kittie’s Gift Jars

Festive Favorites Gift Apothecary Jar
By: Kittie Caracciolo, Artistic Guide

I think it is fun to alter simple containers and decorate them to give as gifts filled with homemade fudge, candy or cookies. Gifts made with love and from the heart are so meaningful to give and receive during the holiday season and throughout the year.

Handmade Cloud Template

Directions:

  1. Stamp Reindeer image across the page, mask and stamp Trees over the masked reindeer. Move mask and repeat process across the page of images.
  2. Watercolor images with a brush and the Distress re-inkers mixed with water. I use the lids of my ink pads for my palettes.
  3. Using a sponge and the cloud template, sponge on Bashful Blue and Baja Breeze inks for the sky. Mixing two colors creates more depth and interest.
  4. Stamp Snowflakes with White craft ink. Use a brush to paint white craft re-inker on the ground area.
  5. Heat emboss with White embossing powder.
  6. Seal and protect the scene by sponging the VersaMark pad directly over the whole strip of paper and heat emboss with Clear embossing powder.

Construction:

  1. Roll paper to make it more pliant, attach two-sided adhesive and adhere the stamped strip to the jar.
  2. Attach strips of grosgrain ribbon with two-sided adhesive around the top and bottom of  scene.
  3. Stamp and paint the tag. Sponge on the Blue ink for the sky. Using a brush, paint snowflake dots with White craft ink and heat emboss with White embossing powder.
  4. Cut border around the tag with deckle scissors and color the edges with the Copic marker.
  5. Apply VersaMark to seal and heat emboss with Clear embossing powder.
  6. Punch out a tag, color edges with marker and attach Reindeer tag with adhesive.
  7.  Punch a hole in the tag and thread grosgrain through.
  8. Create a multi loop bow and attach to jar top along with the tag and ribbon. Glue  evergreen, berries and pinecone into the ribbon with hot glue.
  9. Fill with goodies and enjoy giving your beautiful homemade gift jar.
