Holiday Blizzard Project – Christine Candora-Hickey’s O Christmas Tree Tag

O Christmas Tree Chubby Tag
By: Christine Candora-Hickey, Artistic Guide

Finished card size: 4"wide x 5" tall

Sheet Music (Postmodern Designs)
Pine Branch (Art Impressions)
Gold rush pigment ink (Colorbox)
Forest green and red card stock (Bazzill)
Other Supplies:
Dymo label maker
Red and green check ribbon
Glue stick (Uhu)
Paper towels
Plastic plate
Hole punch

  1. Cut Forest card stock into a tag shape by measuring and cutting to 4" wide x 5" tall.  Snip off the top corners.  [If you have access to an AccuCut die cut machine, this may be a time-saver].
  2. Stamp Pine Branch randomly by inking with Gold Rush ink.  To create depth, stamp twice before inking [this will give you a combination of both bold and faint impressions].
  3. Create an "ink pad" with bleach by dampening paper towels with bleach and placing onto the plastic plate.
  4. Ink the Sheet Music stamp with the bleach and randomly stamp onto a piece of red card stock cut to 4" x 5".  Overlap the rubber stamp impressions to create depth and interest.
  5. Set Red card stock aside to dry.  Once dry, tear the top and bottom edges of the card stock.
  6. Arrange the stamped and torn Red card stock diagonally across the middle of the Green stamped tag.  Adhere with glue stick.  Trim any excess paper that may be hanging over the edge of the tag.
  7. Use the Dymo label maker to write "To" and "From."  Print and stick to the Red stamped card stock.
  8. Punch a hole at the top of the tag for hanging.
  9. Attach ribbon through the hole in the tag.
Your tag is now ready to adorn your gift and make the recipient feel extra special.  Have your gift tag do double-duty as an ornament!  Simply use chipboard or some other sturdy substrate as your base and your gift tag will make an easy transition from hanging off your gift to hanging from a Christmas tree branch.  Just make sure to use the patterned paper to cover the back!
