Christmas Card Challenge: Card 1
By: Shelly Newkirk, Artistic Guide

Size - A2, 5.5" x 4.25"

Vivid Vintage Green (or any dark green dye ink)
Georgia Pacific white card stock
Dark green card stock (unknown)
DCWV Debbie (Mumm Holiday Mat Stack)
Silver metallic (unknown)
Other Supplies:
Crafter's Ultimate Pick Glue
Cuttlebug dies: snowflake and wavy squares
Cuttlebug A2 folder: dotted Swiss

  1. There are four sizes of wavy square dies, use the largest for the white and the 2nd largest for the dark green
  2. Center the smaller dark green wavy square over the white and glue, sponge edge of white with dark green ink to make the squares stand out from the white dotted Swiss background
  3. Cut snow flakes from metallic paper, glue snow flakes to layered wavy squares.
  4. Cut 3 bars of compatible lighter green slightly patterned paper, layer onto darker green patterned compatible paper; trim to leave very narrow dark green border
  5. Use Cuttlebug to dry emboss dotted Swiss paper, cut to 3 ¾ x 5 inches and glue to darker green patterned paper, trim dark green to a fairly narrow border
  6. Assemble as shown.

Ideas to make it your own:

  • Use an A2 embossed paper layered over dark color to make bars
  • Use blues instead of greens or red and gold
  • Use tiny snowflakes instead of stars
  • Sponge edges of card base with compatible ink to add depth
  • Use tiny pictures of your children instead of snowflakes and send to grandma
  • Carefully brayer dark green ink over the dotted Swiss to make the raised dots dark green
